Feast of the Immaculate Conception

Published by dothy under Events December 8, 2010

Today is the feast day of the Immaculate Conception, which is about the conception of the virgin Mary. It is also considered as one of the four dogmas in Catholic Mariology. Lots of towns are celebrating the feast day and one of those is the place where I grew up, in Concepcion, Malabon.

Actually, Concepcion in Malabon is celebrating the feast day for three days, from December 8 – 10. After living all those years in Malabon, it is only this morning that I asked my mom why is the feast celebrated in three days. She told me that before, marching bands are important in celebrating a feast day. Since lots of places are celebrating Immaculate Concepcion on December 8th, our Barangay couldn’t get a marching band on that day, until they were able to on December 10th, he he.

Anyway, in Concepcion Malabon, Immaculate Conception day is celebrated on the 8th of December, while a pagoda is featured on the 9th of December, and the actual town fiesta is on the 10th. There are no classes these three days before, but I’m not sure this time if it will still be the same.

Happy Feast Day of the Immaculate Conception to all Catholics!
