Salcedo Market – Lots of Food
I’ve been planning to go to Salcedo Market before but it is just last weekend that I was able to go. It’s a high end market in Salcedo Village Makati, the one near Leviste.
There are lots of things that you could buy there such as plants, a different shawarma because it’s not just beef. There are also lots of fruits, fresh seafood, meat products, cooked and baked food. There are Filipino, Italian and other cuisines to choose for.
What I like about the market is a fruit stand which sells marang. A marang is like a jackfruit but the inside is like a sugar apple. I’ve only eaten marang in Davao. But now, I’m so happy I could eat it even when I’m here in Manila because of Salcedo Market.
Aside from the marang, I also bought Cebu lechon, pomegranate and baked macaroni. The Cebu lecho costs 600 pesos per kilo. The pomegranate is 250 pesos per kilo and the baked macaroni 100 pesos. The pomegranate or granada fruit, which me and my husband have been looking for in the groceries but couldn’t find it there was in that market. That is why I bought it even though it’s so expensive.
All in all, you could spend more than 500 bucks when you go in Salcedo Market. I’ll post pictures next time of the Salcedo Market and the food that I bought especially the marang, Cebu lechon and pomegranate.
Salcedo Market is located at the Jaime Velasquez Park in Salcedo Village Makati City and is open every Saturday. I’m not sure what time it opens but I’ve read from other blogs it’s until 2pm. There is also another market near Greenbelt 1. Not sure if it’s Legazpi Market though but it’s along that side. Will try to go there next time.
