Blood Donation at Makati Med
My doctor told me that she will reserve two bags of blood to be used when I give birth via C-section on March. The blood might be needed if ever there will be complications with my delivery. Makati Medical Center has a blood bank but she said I should ready two people who could donate blood to replace the the bags she will be asking. If I already have a donor, they can donate blood in advance.
I then asked our helper if she know people who are willing to donate. I’m glad she has lots of friends here in the building where we live. She said there are three people willing to donate. I then called Makati Med to inquire about donating blood. The girl I talked to said there’s a screening that needs to be done before a person can donate blood. She also asked for my blood type and when I told her it’s O, she said that the donor must have the same blood type as mine. I thought that as long as there’s a donor, it doesn’t matter the blood type is. She said that they need more blood type O so they were asking for a donor with that blood type.
I’m not sure if the blood type of the willing donors is O. Our helper went with them today and I’m waiting for the result. I hope two of them will be able to donate blood.

Have you found donors yet? I pray that you do. My daughter is also Blood Type O but she’s only 2 yrs. old & can’t donate blood yet. We don’t have the same blood type as she does. My hubby & I are both Type A and are both under medication for high blood pressure & high blood sugar. We were puzzled at first, how come our daughter has Type “O” blood, but the doc says she has recessive Blood type from one of her grandparents. My parents are both A, and so is my mom-in-law. It’s my dad-in-law who has Blood Type O but he can’t donate too because he takes maintenance meds for his heart & blodd pressure too.

hello mommy! nakahanap na kami buti na lang meron nahanap yung landlady namin na pwede magdonate and blood type O rin sila. Mahirap nga daw ang blood type O kasi kelangan O rin yung ipapalit unlike yung ibang blood types kaya pag ganun gusto ng hospital papalitan yung gagamitin na blood.
I regularly donate blood but sometimes I saved it for future use like when there are friend’s wife who will be requiring a blood type like mine.
