Sharing personal information on Facebook

Published by dothy under Social Networking July 30, 2010

Do you share personal information on Facebook or other social networking sites?  I’m guilty of doing this before I might say, but I have removed all my other important information.  What we share on Facebook can be retrieved by hackers and they could use that for they own purposes more importantly to steal information and use that to obtain credit and other benefits using a person’s name.

There is a news that come out the 100M Facebook Profiles are now available for download.  You can check the news here. Ron Bowles of Skull Security said”…this is a scary privacy issue. I can find the name of pretty much every person on Facebook…Once I have the name and URL of a user, I can view, by default, their picture, friends, information about them, and some other details. If the user has set their privacy higher, at the very least I can view their name and picture. So, if any searchable user has friends that are non-searchable, those friends just opted into being searched, like it or not! ”

Isn’t it scary that other people can look at our information?  Well, if one must put information on Facebook, I think it should be minimal.
